Supplier PPAP Preparation Plan and Documentation Guidelines Purpose: To inform suppliers of BorgWarner Morse TEC Automotive requirements for PPAP when tooling orders are issued for production. Scope: Applies to all suppliers who have been issued production tooling orders and to their sub-suppliers (tier 2 and tier 3) Supplier Production Readiness Plan Supplier should provide BW a timeline to monitor progress towards PPAP and production. Timeline should provide enough detail to track critical events such as tool and equipment debug, tryout and planned dates for PPAP run. Validation and Acceptance During tooling set-up, debug and pre-production trials at supplier, data for dimensions with major/significant (an ‘M’ or ‘S’ on drawing) characteristics should be collected and documented. BW Engineering may request certain dimensions other than those stated above to be documented also. Gage R R studies should be completed at this stage for those dimensions with major/significant characteristics. Approved PPAP from Sub-suppliers. BW may request review of the above prior to scheduling a PPAP run to insure suppliers readiness. Initial Documentation Submission Two Weeks prior to PPAP run, supplier must submit to BW in advance a copy of all 20 elements for PPAP with preliminary inspection and capability data. PPAP Before scheduling a PPAP run, supplier should conform to the following: All equipment and processes should be ready to run production at peak quoted capacity. Production and capacity rates will be verified by the BW Supplier Quality Engineer and documented on the Measurement Requirement Compliance Report (reference Section 6 “Supplier PSO” in the Supplier Quality Manual) Operators and support personnel should be properly trained using updated and completed process documentation.
