Analysis of Sources of Pupils’ Study Load By Lois Song （英教120219） , 2016 Analysis of Sources of Pupils’ Study Load Abstract: Pupils are overwhelmed by an increasing amount of stress in today’s keen competition. This paper shows two main problems resulting from heavy study load: physical problems and mental problems. Then this paper analyzes the sources of pupils’ study load according to the above-mentioned two problems. It analyzes the problems from four aspects: educational systems, school, parents and pupils themselves. Finally, this paper proposes some solutions in the four aspects. Key word: pupils, study load, education 摘要：在如今的激烈竞争中，小学生也Introduction A lot of homework is there everyday. Chinese calligraphy class is on Saturday morning. Math class and writing class are on Saturday afternoon. What’s more, many different kinds of exams are waiting for him. This poor boy is my brother. He is in grade five. Nowadays, pupils bear quite a heavy load. As a student who may be a primary school teacher after two years, I should think about how to reduce pupils’ study load. In this paper, I will show you several problems resulting from giving children too much study load, and then analyze the sources of pupils’ study load. In the last part, I will put forward some relevant suggestions to solve the problems according to the sources. 1. Several problems resulting from heavy study load 1.1 Physical problems In today’s keen competition, pupils are overwhelmed by an increasing amount of stress. The great stress does harm to pupils’ physical health in two aspects. Firstly, the rate of pupils who have myopic eyes is rising year by year. The latest national students’ fitness survey shows that the incidence of myopia in pupils is 22.78%. Apart from the factor of heredity, the main reason of pupils’ myopia is doing too much homework every night. Secondly, pupils are in lack of exercise, so their health condition is poor.
