本草纲目简介和目录（Compendium of Materia Medica directory） Compendium of Materia Medica directory Compendium of Materia Medica (compendium of Materia Medica) is the Ming Dynasty Great medical scientist Li Shizhen to modify the ancient medical mistakes, (1518 - 1593 Compendium of Materia Medica original book illustrations) in their whole life, through practice, received wide use of fieldwork, the herbal medicine is summarized the comprehensive arrangement, which lasted 29 years into the crystallization more than 30 years of effort. The book contains 52 volumes, about 2 million words. The book contains about 1900000 words. It records 1892 kinds of drugs (374 new ones) and is divided into 60 categories. 374 of these are Li Shizhens new drugs. 1892 pills, more than 1100 drawings, and more than 11096 prescriptions. It is a great achievement of pharmaceutical achievement in China before sixteenth Century. It also has outstanding achievements in exegesis, language, history, geography, plants, animals, minerals, metallurgy and so on. The book was spread at the end of the seventeenth Century and has been translated in many languages. It has also been recognized as an outstanding contribution to the world natural science.
