Two semi-empirical calculation formulas were analyzed and compared with each other. It is found that del Valle-Aguilera’s formula is better than that of Chrastil’s and del Valle-Aguilera’s expression has more physical meaning than that of Chrastil’s in a wider temperature range. Especially, for the solubility of seed oils in SCCO2, del Valle-Aguilera’s formula is an important calculation approach. Finally, the solubility of Hippophae Rhamnoides L. seed oils (HRLSO) in supercritical carbon dioxide was measured by using a continuous setup under the the pressure range of 10~30 MPa and the temperature range of 303~323 K. Based on the experimental data, a formula that can be used to calculate the solubility of HRLSO in SCCO2 was presented.
