Unit Nine Orders and Their Fulfilment ;;Learning Objectives: When you have completed this chapter, you will know ● What an order is ● What principles should be followed in writing order letters;An order is a request made by the buyer to the seller, asking the seller to supply a specified quantity of goods. ;In an order, the buyer must state accurately and clearly. Usually an order letter should include: a. Detailed description of the goods, quantity, article number (if any), price; b. mode of packing, port of destination, time of shipment; c. terms of payment.; If you are lucky enough to receive a first order from a new importer, you’d better acknowledge it by telling him that: ;If the seller doesn’t accept the order, he’d better send a reply for the sake of courtesy and goodwill. Such letter may consist of the following aspects: a. thank the buyer for his order; b. express regret at inability to accept it; c. explain concisely the main reasons; d. make a counter-offer, or recommend suitable substitutes, or contact him if there is an opportunity in the future.;Letter-9(1) (Placing a first order);;2. to find a good market;d. good (poor, no ) market 畅销(滞销,无销路) There is a good ( a poor, no ) market for these articles. e. in the market 要买或要卖 Please cable us as soon as you are in the market. 一俟你方要买(或卖)时,请电告。 2) v. 销售,推销 We will try to market this product at our end if you allow us a 5% commission.如你方给5%佣金,我方愿在我地设法推销这一商品。;3. cash against documents (CAD) ;付款交单,D/P?( documents against payment) ;承兑交单(Documents against Acceptance,简写 D/A );Useful phrases: supply from current stock, find a good market for sth., terms of payment, cash against documents;Letter-9(2) (Acknowledgement of the first order);;reply in the affirmative affirm v. 确认,证实 to answer / reply in the affirmative: say “Yes”, give a positive answer肯定的答复 ;dispatch派遣,发送 (BrE despatch) (formal)to send sth. or someone for a particular purpose e.g. dispatch a messenger 派遣使者 dispa
