Abstract : The production and application status of boricacid is presented, andthedeveloping prospect
of boric acid is put forward. Theboron ores in different countries have different characteristics, which de
termine diverse production methods of boric acid. Among all these production methods the acid method is
the principle one. Boric acid is widely used in many fields such as glass industry, ceramics, metallurgy,
mechanics, electron, medicine, agriculture, national defense, modern science andtechnology etc. Thede
veloping direction of boron industry is intensivism, largescaleandfine. Fine chemical boron productswith
high added value, new materials containing boron and anhydrous or highpurity boric acid for special pur
pose (medicine, reagent, photograph and nuclear reactor etc.) will develop extensively.
