With nine Japanese varieties and tw l cal cultivars f rice as test materials, this paper studied the characteristics f their yieldf rmati n and s urcesink characteristics under different ec envir nments f Nanjing and Lijiang . The results sh w ed that ecenvir nment had an bvi us effect n rice grain yield and dry matter accumulati n. Highyielding rice gen types c uld accumulate m re dry matter, especially in their late gr w th peri d. They had higher t tal spikelet number, leaf area index ( LAI) and cr p gr wth rate ( CGR) , as c mpared w ith ther gen types. The grain y ield increased w ith increasing t tal dry matter accumulati n, and significantly p sitively c rre lated with dry matter accumulat i n after heading, t tal spikelet number, LAI, and spikelet/ leaf area rat i . The results suggested that t he l wer grain y ield in Nanjing than in Lijiang was mainly resulted fr m the l w er LAI, t tal spikelet, dry matter accumulati n and CGR after heading.
