Meizhou Drum isoneof theoldest instru鄄 ments in the Mazu cultural music. Iit isessential andpenetratesdeeply intothe entire Mazu culture. It hasoccupiedtheleadingposi鄄 tion in the Mazu cultural musichenceitwashailedastheLeading Drum. Meizhou Drumnot only hastheuniquereligiousshades,but also diffuses infinite artisticcharmandcontainsabundantfolkloreimplication. Itsmatureperformingskills,superbcraftsmanshipalong with the stable instruments performance are all the significant stream of thefolk music in Putian and Xianyou area. In the evolution of the thousands-years history of the Mazu music culture,Meizhou Drum has absorbed the advantages of other instrumental performing styles.
