ChineseMedicalJournal2013,126fi9j 3685 Originalarticle skfactorsassociatedwithpostoperativehospitalstayafter pancreaticoduodenectomy：aretrospectivestudy XIEYi—bin，WANGCheng—feng，ZHAODong—bing，SHANYi，BAIXiao-feng，SUNYue—rain，CHENYing—tai， ZHAOPingandTIAN Yan—tao Keywords：lengthofstay,pancreaticoduodenectomy,postoperativeperiod,r‘iskfactors Background Postoperativehospitalstayafterpancreaticoduodeneclomy(PD)isrelativelylongerthanafterother gastrointestinaloperations．Theaim ofthecurrentstudywasto investigate theriskfactorsassociatedwithprolonged hospitalstayafterPD． Methods PatientswhohadPDattheCanGerHospitalofChineseAcademyofMedicalSciencesbetweenDecember 2008andNovember2012wereselectedforthisretrospectivestudy．ClinicaIandpathologicaldatawerecollected andanalyzed．Theprimary outcomewaspostoperative lengthofstay．Normaldischargeorrecovery wasdefinedasa postoperativehospitalstayofnomorethan10days；otherwiseitwasdefinedasdelayeddischargeorrecovery(including hospitaldeath)． ResultsAtotalof152patientswereenrolledinthepresentstudy．Postoperativehospitalstaywas(19．7~7．7)days(range 7-57)．Ofthe152patients．67weredischargedwithinthenormaItimeand85haddelayeddischarge．Postoperative complicationsoccurredin62．5％ (95／152)，andthemortalityratewas3_29％ (5／152)．Multipleregressionanalysisshowed thatdelayeddischargewassignificantlyassociatedwithpostoperativecomplications(adjustedoddsratio(OR)1O．40，95％ confidenceinterval(C03．58-30．22)，age(adjustedOR4．O9，95％c／1．16I14．39)，bodymassindex(BM1)(adjustedOR 4．4O，95％CI1．19-16．23)，surgicalprocedure(adjustedOR26．14，95％CI4．94—153．19)，bloodtransfusion(adjustedOR 7．68，95％C，2．09—28．27)，andfluidinput(adjustedO尺3．47，95％C，1．24-11．57)． Conclusions Postoperativecomplicationsincreasethelimetopostoperativehospitaldischarge．Thelengthofhospital stayafterPD isalsoassociatedwithage，BMI，bloodtransf
