发动机历史(Engine history) The engine is the power source of the car. Most of the car engines are thermal power units, or thermal machines. The heat engine is transformed into mechanical energy by changing the heat energy produced by the combustion of fuel. The reciprocating piston-type four-stroke gasoline engine was invented and put into use in 1876 by a German, Nicolaus a.tto, based on the atmospheric pressure engine. The engines thermal efficiency is increased from 11% of the atmospheric pressure engine to 14%, and the engines quality is reduced by 70% due to intake, compression, work and exhaust. In 1892, a German engineer, Rudolf Diesel, invented a compact-burning engine, the Diesel engine, to achieve the second major breakthrough in the history of the internal combustion engine. The thermal efficiency is more than double that of the other engines, because of high compression ratio and expansion ratio. In 1956, the German F.a nkel invented the rotor engine, which improved the engine speed considerably. In 1964, Germanys NSU company first installed the rotor engine in a sedan. In 1926, the Swiss, A.B. uchi, proposed a theory of turbocharging, which USES the exhaust energy of the engine to drive the compressor and pressurize the engine. After the 1950s, the exhaust gas turbo-charging technology began to be applied gradually in the internal combustion engine, making the engine performance of the engine improved greatly, making it the third major breakthrough in the history of internal combustion engine. In 1967, Bosch, Germany, pioneered the use of electronic computer-controlled gasoline Injection systems (EFI), which pioneered the use of electronic control technology in automotive engines.
