For commercial a lication, the emulsion must be deemulsified to yield diesel oil after BDS. In fact, this is the last rocess of BDS. Several deemulsifiers a licable to this three hase O/ W emulsion, such as several ty ical watersoluble deemulsifiers, methanol, ethanol, and the Rhodococcus s ellets w hich can desulfurize diesel oil w ere tested. Ethanol w as the best, and the de emulsification mechanism w ith different deemulsifiers w as discussed. 4% ethanol, as a deemulsifier could se arate oil by centrifuge because of its strong surfactivity, high hydro hilic ro erty and a ro riate density . T he diesel oil recovery could be increased by centrifugal se aration from 60% to almost 100%. GCMS analysis show ed ethanol addition for deemulsification did not affect the com osition of alkenes. It w as also noted that the ellets of DS3 centrifuged show ed the same growth rate and dibenthio hene desulfurization activity as the original bacteria, so they could be reused as desulfurization biocatalyst.
