T he form ulae and m ethod of the qu ant ify ing identification o f the structura l dam age ex tent on a dmi en sion beam are presented by the perturb ation m atrix and FEM dynam ic analysis o f stru ctures in the p aper. T he loca t ions and extent o f the stru ctura l dam age can be detected by the m ethod only from m easured natural frequencies o f dam aged stru ctures, and the aging ex tent of the stru ctures can also be ident ified. It avoided the error of the mode i dent ify ing m ethods because o f in suffic iency deg rees of freedom m easured.
