A b str a c t T he A dvanced P lacem ent P rogram (A P ) originated in the 1950s. A fter n early 60 years of developm ent, it has b een spread out in the U n ited States and is recogn ized by the fam ous un iversities all around th e w orld. A P C alculu s A B and B C are im portant com ponents of A P , w h ich n ot only im prov e m athem atics for the stu dents w ho h as th e ab ility to learn m ore, but also effectiv ely m itigate th e interface b etw een m ath em atics courses in h igh school and in college. In th is context, this paper aim s at finding som e w orthw hile p laces and bringing out th e thou ght abou t m ath em atical edu cation in C h ina through research of A P and A P C a lcu lu s. T h is paper m ain focu s on three aspects : (l)T o introdu ce A P op eration system . (2)T o in trodu ces course target, sy llabu s and test qu estion s ch aracteristics of A P calcu lu s. (3)T o sum m ary features of A P calcu lu s, to prov ide reference for the current b asic edu cation reform , especially for m athem atics education reform .
