We obtained a rice mutant hk759 obtained from wuyunjing7 by heavy ion irradiation .Onthe study wemainlyresearchedtheagronomiccharacters,physiological , andbiochemical,theenvironmentfactorsandregulationmechanismofhelical formedand geneticanalysis.Theexperimentconclusionsasfollows: 1Studyoncharacteristicsofmutanthk759 1.1 The helical growth characteristics of mutant expressed during the whole plant growth and the whole plant organs. The mutant showed helical growth at seeding stage. The mutant showed anticlockwise helical growth in the root, leaves, stem and grains at mature stage.At mature stage, the mutant also showed tiller angle increased, plant type loosed,dwarf, leafhalfrolled andparthelical.Therootlengthandnumber ofmutant also significantlyincreased.Thehelicaldegreewassignificantlyenhanced.Thehulldehiscence ratewashigh. 1.2Thehelicalformwasconductedbyunevengrowthofcells.Weobserveditfromthe longitudinal sectionofhelical stemsbyparaffin section.Inthenormalpart ofmutant,the number and length andwidth ratio between left andright epidermal cellswere the same. But inthe helical part ofmutant,the inner epidermal cells length ofthehelical part were smallerthan the outside epidermal cells length ofthe helical part. Onlywere 88%ofthe outside epidermal cells of the helical part. The inner epidermal cells width of the helical partwas 1.08timeswiderthantheoutside. 1.3Genetic analysis showedthat the mutant was controlledby a singlerecessive gene anditsgeneticstability.Themutantgenewasm
