In this paper, the numerical simulat ion metho d is used to ev aluate g ro undwater r eso ur ces of Jiyuan Basin after the w ate-r balance method is used. By comparing and analy zing , the water- balance method can ev aluate facilities in lar ge ar eas. But it can not evaluat e local ar ea easily. Because there are many recharg e items due from supply coefficient. T he numer ical simulatio n method can evaluate all kinds of reg io n, big o r sma ll. But, it needs mor e par ticular data. T he numerical simulation depends on ex act hydro geo log ical co nditions. T he results ar e clo ser to the realt y than the water- balance method.
