Department of Forest Economics, Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Umea 90183, Sweden) Abstract: Researches about forests and climate change are summarized during 2006-2015, aims to find out the effects of climate change on forests and how to mitigate climate change with forests. Results show, climate change has influenced the forest ecosystem and forest productivity, and caused economic loss for the forest land owners. As the main strategies for mitigating climate change, decrease forest carbon emissions and increase forest carbon sinks are both important. Both strategies could be cost-effective, and they could help increase the forest biodiversity. However, the tenure ambiguity, effects on local residence livelihood and high transaction cost occurred in the carbon marked all limited the forest mitigation action. Therefore, future researches should focus on how to achieve a consistent results between policy makers who want to achieve mitigation goals and forest land owners who want to achieve economic goals. It is also important to know how to motivate forest land owners to supply more forest carbon.
