Unit 2 what’s the matter? Teaching goals: Knowledge goals Enable the students to master the new words about body parts and disease. Like: arm, back, stomach, headache……. Enable the students to master “What’s the matter?” “I have…..” Make sure that students can use these sentences in real situations. Ability goals Develop the students’ abilities of working in groups. Train the students’ abilities of communication and their innovation. Emotion goals Foster students’ consciousness of good co-operation. Foster students’ consciousness of keeping healthy. Teaching key points and difficulties: Vocabulary is basic for English learning. So students should master the key words. The students should grasp the general idea in listening activities. The students should master the useful expressions. Teaching aids: cake and multimedia Teaching methods: Communicative Teaching method and task-based Teaching method. Teaching material:Junior English of grade 8 of section A Teaching procedures: Step1:Lead in The teacher asks the student to do the duty report. Then, the teacher will give a picture of Panchangjiang. The teacher introduce the new words:Arm, back, head, ear, leg……. The teacher guides the students to read the new words and finish the 1a. Step 2 The teacher guides the students to have a show. Sing and do: Everybody moves your body Nod your head and touch your face Touch your nose and close your eyes Touch your ears and clap your hands Raise your arms and look at your back Touch your stomach and tap your foot Sit down and move your legs Step 3 Game Time Touch and say The teacher asks 4 students to come to the stage. Then, asks them touch the part of their bodies when they hear the part. They will have a competition. Then, the winner will get the cake as the present. Step 4:Presentation The teacher will give some pictures to introduce the sentence patterns. “What’s the matter?” “I have a cold” “What’s the matter?” “I have a headache.” Then, the teacher introduces: Head + a
