Organizational Behaviour 1)A field of study that investigates the impact of individuals, groups, and structure on behaviour within organizations; the aim is to apply such knowledge toward improving organizational effectiveness. 2)It’s a field of study that focus on three levels of behaviour in organizations: the individual, the group ,and structure. 组织行为学(OB)是研究个体、群体、和组织的行为及其影响。组织行为学的目的是运用这些知识以增进组织活动的有效性。 张德教授(2002)定义:组织行为学是研究组织中人的心理和行为表现及规律,以提高管理人员预测、引导和控制人的行为的能力,从而实现组织既定目标的科学。 Organization: a consciously coordinated social unit, made up of a group of people, that functions in a relatively continuous basis to achieve common goals. examples--- What do we mean by organization? eg: Manufacturing and service firms, schools, hospitals, churches, military units, retail stores, police departments, volunteer organizations, start-ups(小企业), and local, provincial, and federal government agencies. 1.2 Making sense of behaviour in organization OB is an applied behavioural science that is built upon contributions from a number of behavioral disciplines. The main areas are psychology, sociology, social psychology, anthropology, and political science. Research methods in OB OB provides a systematic approach to the study of behaviour in organizations, as well as groups and teams. Behaviour is generally predictable, and the systematic study of behaviour is a means to making reasonably accurate predictions. We look at relationships, attempt to attribute causes and effects, and base our conclusions on scientific evidence---that is, on data gathered under controlled conditions, and measured and interpreted in a reasonably rigorous manner---rather t
