Erythrocyte AChE has been w dely used for d agnos s of organophosphate and carbamate nsect c de po son ng, and for healthy mon tor ng of occupat onal exposure. Plasma BuChE s synthes zed by l ver cells. Assay of p lasma BuChE act v ty s a sens t ve parameter for evaluat ng the ab l ty of prote n synthes s n l ver . In the case of acute fulm nant hepat t s, chron c act ve hepat t s and c rrhos s, plasma BuChE act v ty decreased s gn f cant ly. It may serve as one of the d agnost c cr ter a for these l ver d seases . The d fference n k net c character st cs between carbamylated and phosphory2 lated BuChE may be useful for the d fferen c al d agnos s of the two k nds of po son ng: the former follows a non2l near k n et c pattern at the degree of nh b t on of 40% or more, whereas the latter l near one.
