M ethods A totalof 100 consecutive coro- nary artery disease patients who were performed selective CABG procedure were random ly assigned to two groups: phosphocreatine group ( n= 50) and controlgroup ( n= 50). The trialgroupwas adm inistered phos- phocreatine 250 mg via the central vein catheter before the operation. Those recordedwere CPB tmi e, aortic clamping tmi e, rate of spontaneous beating, IC stay, postoperative hospital stay, perioperative myocardial infarction and in-hospitalmotality. Blood sampleswere collected at 5 tmi e points( pre-operation, at the end of operation, 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours operatively) to measure the plasma concentration ofcreatine k-i nase, creatine kinase-MB and lactate dehydrogenase. R esults The rate of spontaneous beating in the study group is higher than that in the control group. The levels ofmyocardial enzymes were significantly higher postoperatively comparing w ith baseline values, whereas were significantly lower in phosphocreatine group than in controlgroup. Conclusion Creatine phosphate revealed effectivemyocardialprotection effects in pa- tients receiving on-pump coronary bypass surgery. = Key wor
