The Developing Trends of Cognitive Strategies in Foreign Language Learning in China C UI H ong mei , S ON G Yuel i ( Northwest A F University, Yangling 712100, China) Abstract: Based on the articles of cognitive strategy ublished in the core journals from 1995 to 2009, the a er studies the develo ing trends, research methods, research content and research subjects comes to the findings: ( 1) T he research of cognitive strategies in China is still develo ing ra idly; ( 2) The research of cognitive strategies is mainly based on nonmaterial research and lacks em irical stud y ; ( 3) The research subjects are mainly university students. T herefore the range of future research w ill be much w ider. T he em irical studies w ill gradually lay a dominate role in the research instead of nonmaterial one. T he research w ill take any level of foreign language learners as its subjects, and cover both the foreign language teaching and language ractice as the content.
