Combined w ith the actua situation of Litang County, the authors studied the main socioeconomic driving f actors and the size of driving forces. T he resu t showed that main socioeconomic driving forces of grass and degradation w ere the number of ivestock , popu ation , industria structure, and imp ementation of protecting grass ands. po icies, enc osure grass and areas and annua net income per capita in pasture. On this basis, the authors put up the strategies and measures to prevent grass ands fur- ther degradation.
