And as a popular tool for network simulation, NS-2 is of great importance for our study and research. NS-2 (Network Simulator Version 2) is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research. It provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and multicast protocols over wired and wireless networks. NS-2 uses TCL as its simulation scripts. TCL is a string-based language; it is designed to be glue that assembles software building blocks into applications. In addition, TCL is interpreted when the application runs, and the interpreter makes it easy to build and refine you application in an interactive manner. But it is not so easy for our students to master TCL, though it has relatively little syntax. Even if you are an expert programmer, it must be a trivial work for you to write a TCL script for your experiment and then modify it again and again. The goal of this project is to develop supporting tools that enable creating, analyzing NS-2 simulation scripts and traces automatically, and it has a drag-and-drop GUI and it is easy to use in undergraduate and graduate networking courses.
