As compared with anti-HBV nucleos(t)ide analogues used in clinical practice in China, the novel nucleos(t)ide analogues exhibit greater antiviral activity, lower incidence rate of drug resistance, better tole- rance in patients and other advantages, however, there remain some problems, such as a high risk of recurrence after these nucleos (t)ide analogues are discontinued and increased resistance rates as treatment is prolonged. This review focuses on the research advances in novel anti-HBV nucleos(t)ide analogues in hope that clinicians may have a deeper knowledge of nucleos(t)ide analogues so as to provide more options for antiviral therapy for patients with chronic hepatitis B.
