METHODS A retrospective study was carried out on the distribution and resistance rates in 171 strains of pathogens isolated from patients with diabetic foot infections during from 2003 to 2007. RES LTSThe infections in diabetic foot were increased from 2003 to 2007. Among 171 strains, 48. 5% were Grampositive bacteria, 48. 0% were Gramnegative bacteria, and 3. 5% were Candida infection. Other pathogens included Stap hylococcus aureus, S. ep ider idis, Enterococcus, Escherichia coil, Pro teus spp and Pseudo onas aeruginosa. Imipenem and cefepime were highly active against Enterobacteriaceae. - Vancomycin resistant staphylococci were not found, and 23. 2% strains of G bacilli were producing extended spectrum betalactamases ( ESBLs) .
