The Effects of Teachers’ Classroom Nonverbal behaviors on Foreign Language Teaching Abstract Nonverbal behavior, which is consciously or unconsciously neglected in foreign language teaching, is inseparable part in human communication process. About FLT, people always think, to communicate well with other students in the classroom, the teachers must learn to speak well. But speaking isn’t everything. According to a study, teachers get information more from nonverbal communication than from the words. So it is important to clarify the features of nonverbal behavior in the classroom and to analyze the functions of nonverbal behavior in the FLT classroom. The depth of nonverbal communication between teachers and students can show the performance of the two sides. This paper classifies the features of body action of teachers and students in the FLT classroom based on the classification of nonverbal behavior of Ekman and Freisen and discuss the role of nonverbal behavior in the classroom. And the research probes the importance of intercultural nonverbal communication competence in foreign language learning. In this paper, some unsuccessful cases are cited to illuminate a fact, that is, we must improve our students and teachers’ competence in intercultural nonverbal communication.
