IntroductiontothisdocumentUSCongressrecentlyenactedlegislation,theInflationReductionAct(IRA),thatincludes$369Boffundingforclimateandenergyoverthenextdecade.Thisfundingbuildsonmorethan$110BofclimateandenergyfundingintheInfrastructureInvestmentandJobsAct(IIJA)adoptedinlate2021.TheprimaryvehiclesforfiscalspendingfortheIRAwillbethroughtaxcreditsandincentivefunding,intendedtocreateinvestmentmultipliereffectsLegislationofthismagnitudeanddurationlastingthroughthe2030sandbeyondislikelytohaveprofoundandlastingimpactsacrossUSandglobalclimateandenergysystems,supplychains,industries,andtradeUSlegislationonclimateandenergyalsohasthepotentialtotriggerpolicyactionsfromothernations,bothlargeenergyproducersthatcompeteacrossthesevaluechains,andlargeenergyconsumersThisdocumentprovidesanoverviewofthekeyclimateandenergyfeaturesofthelegislation,sharesthepotentialshiftineconomicsofcleanenergyinvestmentsandtechnologiesitcandeliver,anddescribesinitialimplicationsandopportunitiesforfirmsThesecondandthirdorderimplicationsofthislegislationwillemergeovertime.Forexample,thesepoliciesimpacttheabilityofeveryindustryacrosstheeconomytodecarbonizetheirsupplychains.WewillexploretheseinfutureBCGExecutivePerspectivesacrossselectareasoffocus2
