jections.Tothisend,theymustestimatethesizeandtheshapeofthespatial
distributionofthedrugaftertheinjection,inordertoestimateaccurately
theregionofthebrainthatthedrughasaffected.
Theresearchdataconsistofthemeasurementsoftheamountsofdrug
ineachof50cylindricaltissuesamp(seeFigure1andTable1).Each
cylinderhaslength0.76mmanddiameter0.66mm.Thecentersofthe
parallelcylinderslieonagridwithmesh1mm×0.76mm×1mm,sothat
thecylinderstouchoneanotherontheircircularbasesbutnotalongtheir
sides,asshownintheaccompanyingfigure.Theinjectionwasmadenear
thecenterofthecylinderwiththehighestscintillationcount.Naturally,one
expectsthatthereisdrugalsoweenthecylindersandoutsidetheregion
coveredbythesamp.
