    largestbookretailerchaininU.S.,withregardstoseveralrelatedevaluationcriteria.To

    bemorecogent,thereasonswhythesecriteriaareappropriateinthiscasestudywillbe

    provided.

    Also,basedontheevaluation,thisessaywilloffersomepotentialrecommendationsto

    thecompanyregardinghowtosurviveandfindpathstogainnewdevelopmentin

    currentdynamicbookmarket.

    Basedonthegivencasestudy,Borders,thesecond-largestU.S.bookstorechain,

    eventuallyannouncedtoliquidatingallitsstoresinJuly2011,threemonthsafterthe

    groupfiledforbankruptcyprotection.AccordingtoSanburn(2011),byJuly2011

    Borders,althoughwithafifty-yearbrillianthistory,hadbeenonthevergeoffailureto

    payoffthehugedebt,with40millionmorethantheassetsvaluethroughoutthe

    recession(2008–2009).

    ThedemiseofBorderscouldbeattributedtomanyexplanations;however,thetopof

    thelistmusthefactthatalargeportionofdemandingforphysicalbookswas

    replacedbythatfore-books.Flood(2011)reported,basedonthedatapublishedby

    AssociationofAmericanpublishers,inFebruary2011thetotalsalesofe-books

    overtakenpaperbacksforthefirsttimegettingto$90.3million,comparingwith81.2

    millionofpaperbooks,whichmeanse-bookshadbecomethelargestcategoryofth
