EventDataRecorders

Thisvehicleisequippedwithaneventdatarecorder(EDR).

ThemainpurposeofanEDRistorecord,incertaincrashornear

crash-likesituations,suchasanairbagdeploymentorhittinga

roadobstacle,datathatwillassistinunderstandinghowavehicle’s

systemsperformed.TheEDRisdesignedtorecorddatarelated

tovehicledynamicsandsafetysystemsforashortperiodof

time,typically30secondsorless.TheEDRinthisvehicleis

designedtorecordsuchdataas:

•Howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewereoperating;

•Whetherornotthedriverandpassengersafetybeltswere

buckled/fastened;

•Howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheaccelerator

and/orbrakepedal;and,

•Howfastthevehiclewastraveling.

Thesedatacanhelpprovideabetterunderstandingofthe

circumstancesinwhichcrashesandinjuriesoccur.NOTE:EDRdata

arerecordedbyyourvehicleonlyifanon-trivialcrashsituation

occurs;nodataarerecordedbytheEDRundernormaldriving

conditionsandnopersonaldata(e.g.,name,gender,age,and

crashlocation)arerecorded.However,otherparties,suchaslaw

enforcement,couldcombinetheEDRdatawiththetypeof

personallyidentifyingdataroutinelyacquiredduringacrash

investigation.

ToreaddatarecordedbyanEDR,specialequipmentisrequired,

andaccesstothevehicleortheEDRisneeded.Inadditiontothe

vehiclemanufacturer,otherparties,suchaslawenforcement,that

havethespecialequipment,canreadtheinformationiftheyhave

accesstothevehicleortheEDR.

ThedatabelongstothevehicleownerandmaynotbeaccessedbyYoumayoptoutwithin30daysofyourinitialuseoftheSoftware
