•InApril2025(epidemiologicalweeks14to17),atotalof37147newcholeraand/oracutewaterydiarrhoea(AWD)

caseswerereportedfrom18countries,territories,areas(hereaftercountries)acrossthreeWHOregions,showing

a5%increasefromMarch.TheAfricanRegionregisteredthehighestnumberofcases,followedbytheEastern

MediterraneanRegionandtheSouth-EastAsiaRegion.Theperiodalsosaw561cholera-relateddeathsglobally,

highlightinga3%decreasefromthepreviousmonth.

•InApril2025,thenumberofcholeracaseswas35%lower,whilethenumberofdeathswas71%highercompared

toApril2024,when57263casesand328cholera-relateddeathswerereportedacross24countries.

•Importantly,theoverallcholeradataremainsincompleteduetounderreportingandreportingdelays.Additionally,

extremeweathereventsandconflict,suchastheongoinginsecurityintheDemocraticRepublicoftheCongo,

haveresultedinlowornoreportingfromsomeareas.Giventhesecomplexities,thedatapresentedherelikely

underestimatesthetrueburdenofcholeraandshouldbeinterpretedwithcaution.
