REV. A 1 OF 3 Replacing the Lower Needle-Wash Frit Select this procedure to replace the lower needle-wash frit in the e2695 Separations Module. When to Replace • During the annual Performance Maintenance • If the seal pack leaks • If the seal pack calibration fails • If ghost peaks appear in the chromatogram • If sample carryover is evident Parts Required • (1) Needle Wash Frit (5 per pack) for the Lower Seal Wash Body, P/N 700001318 Tools/Materials Required • 100% alcohol (methanol or isopropanol) • Vial of existing needle-wash solvent, or 100% alcohol (methanol or isopropanol) Preparation Before performing this procedure, immerse the replacement frit in the needle-wash solvent (or alcohol) for several minutes. Replacing the Lower Needle-Wash Frit 1. Open the sample compartment door and remove any carousels that restrict access to the lower retainer. 2. Power-off the separations module, and disconnect the power cord. Replacing the Lower Needle-Wash Frit REV. A 2 OF 3 3. On the inside of the sample compartment, find the lower frit retainer along the top side of the compartment (Figure 1). Figure 1 - Locating the Lower Frit Retainer 4. Turn the retainer counter-clockwise to remove it from the compartment. 5. Using a small diameter pick or paper clip, carefully remove the frit from the retainer. Discard the frit. 6. Install the new, solvent-wetted frit, seating the frit completely in the retainer. 7. Reinstall the retainer into the sample compartment. 8. Being careful not to cross-thread the retainer, turn the retainer clockwise until it is firmly seated. 9. Reconnect the power cord, and pow
