I was so desperate to be out in nature—I’d be transported through David’s documentaries to all these amazing places and hear incredible stories about animals doing things you could hardly believe. After getting a science degree, I did a PhD studying ants and butterflies, before getting a call from the BBC asking about my work for a show called Life in the Undergrowth. I was so excited and I just begged, “Please let me help!” It all went from there. Sir David himself came to film with me, so l got to meet him early on, and he is the loveliest person. The first trip I did with him was to Israel as an assistant producer, and then I got my first producing role for Planet Earth Ⅱ, studying sea otters(海獭) in California. Usually, we spend six weeks filming for about three minutes of TV. Patience is the key, besides being able to concentrate and watch the animals for weeks on end, learning and listening.
