But the man doesnt pay cash when he buys something. He has credit cards, which he uses in place of money. Like many other people today, this man buys on credit. This means that some stores and businesses are willing to let him have their goods or services now and pay for them later. At each of these stores he has a charge account. People charge when they dont have the money to buy all at once or when they dont want to carry a lot of money. Charge accounts are of two main kinds. With a regular charge account, the store gives a customer credit for no extra charge. That is, if he pays for the products that he buys soon after he gets his bill, there is no extra charge. Thus a pair of trousers that cost $14.95, plus 75 cents state sales tax, would still cost $15.70 at the end of the month when the bill is sent to the buyer. The store managers dont feel that a month is too long to wait for
