So the traditional file-sharing systems based on the client/server structure are not able to satisfy the requirements of the users, and a lot of file-sharing systems based on P2P structure were proposed. But there are still some shortages need to be advised for these systems. Software agent can be treated as one kind of high level abstract. It is an autonomous entity, also it has some characteristics such as intelligence, self-government, adaptability and collaboration. Since these characteristics are needed in P2P structure’s peer-to-peer nodes, the software agent is introduced as one of the P2P network node. Holonic Technology Platform is a multi-agent development platform, it has some advantages that are not showed in other platforms, also it combines the holon idea into the process of software development. So this thesis combines the P2P and the agent technique together by analyzing the current file-sharing system models, and implements a distributed file-sharing system on Holonic Technology Platform. The main work and the main problems solved in this paper are listed below: Research on the existing file-sharing system models, introducing the structures of various models and the related searching methods, and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of models in detail. The structure of Holonic Technology Platform and means of communication are comprehensively presented, other relevant information is also referred to, which is the reason for using Holonic Technology Platform as the platform of file-sharing system.
