ABSTRACT . 、‘ 、、· 〈‘ Wireless multi-hop network (or wireless ad hoc network) has been applied widely in the field of military and terrorism for its flexibility. Due to the limited bandwidth ， dynamic topology and the heterogeneity of processing and communication protocol among the nodes，the traditional Internet management system cannot be used in the heterogenous multi-hop wireless network directly. Therefore ，the wireless multi-hop network management faces new challeng侃 丁his thesis designs a distribut创 network management system based on SNMP for the heterogeneous wireless multi巾。p network， including configuration management ，performance management and fault managemen t. According to 伽 characteristics of heterogeneous wireless multi-hop networks，the system is compatible wi也 SNMP protocol and extends the MIB database，so that it Can support custom configuration for wireless nodes. Using the cross layer technology， 加 sy阳m can collect underlying information and topology information of wireless nodes. This thesis presents an adaptive visualization algorithm named Spring A1gori由mfor 山topology management ，which canωntrol and a句ust the layout of the network topology，so that the whole topology is decentralized and c1early displayed on the screen. In addition，an adaptive fault detection algori由m，AFD，is propos时， which considers bo也 the actual reqirements and the features of wireless multi也op networks. In order ωevaluate the fault detection algori也m，two performance metrics are also proposed. This thesis implements the distributed heterogeneous wireless multi-hop network management system at our test-bed. Experiments 缸e carried out to evaluate the 阳formance of the system. The experiment results veri命 the functionalities of each components of the system，and show 由at the distributed network management system works well in 伽 heterogenωus wireless multi也op network.
