And it is an important means to protect contactors legitimate interests、 make up for the loss of engineering and improve the economic benefits. In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinas economy, more and more construction projects have appeared in the domestic, especially the large ones with the long construction cycle, the many construction units and a wide range of impact, which will cause many uncertain risks. Delay events occurred widely in practical projects, and they are unavoidable sometimes. If the project can not be completed on schedule, it will bring loss to the owner and the contractor. Both are reluctant to see the results. Study on the claims under construction delay has the vital significance to the contractor and the owner. It is an important link to ensure the propitious execution of the contract. Researching of engineering claims under the schedule delays has a great significance to control the engineering cost and to realize project expected benefits. This paper to the construction delay events mainly studies the following aspects: First, it explains the relevant provisions of FIDIC terms to duration claim and cost claim, which is the theoretical basis of claim events about engineering delay. Second, it analyzes the main causes of schedule delay. Through the analysis of the reasons, it can not only find out the factors about delay to nip the delay events in the bud, but also make the right judgments for the later analysis of delay events. Third, it classifies the construction delay events. According to the time when the delay events occur, it can divide to single delay and concurrent delay.
