Teaching procedures: Period1 Word study and Introduction Step1 Word study (p116) Ask Ss to read the words after me. Make sure they can read them correctly. Explain some important words for Ss. satisfying (adj.) satisfy (v.)-- be satisfied with 对……感到满意 satisfaction (n.) -- to one’s satisfaction / to the satisfaction of sb. 使某人满意的是 ② volunteer (v.) – volunteer to do sth. ③ offer: offer sb sth/offer sth to sb/offer to do sth ④ respect (v./n.) 尊重 – respect sb. ; have/show respect for… ⑤ sign: 1)签字 v. He signed his name on the cheque. 2) 做手势 v. He signed to me to be quiet. 3) 告示,招牌 n. The sign says /reads, “Keep off the grass”. ⑥ apply: 1)apply for…申请……2)apply…to…把……应用于…… ⑦ require: 1) 需要,相当于need/want/call for e.g.The matter requires careful consideration. 2) 要求,命令,相当于demand/order require sb to do sth/require that…(should) do sth e.g.You’re required to be present at the meeting. The teacher required/demanded that we (should) hand in the paper after class. Step2 Introduction Lead-in: As you know, everybody does a different job. I teach you English, so I am called a teacher. If you want to have your hair cut, you should turn to this person who can cut your hair. The person is called a barber. Different profession has different names. We can know more names about profession’s names from activity 1(p11). Deal with Activity1 Ss are required to look at the photos and say what the people are doing.
