Ok，it is time now to make sure everyone knows what we are going to do once we dismiss from the classroom and go to the shop floor. If you do not already have a Team Leader then you must appoint one now. It will be the Team Leaders job to use the Workshop Manual and follow it precisely and insure that each of his Team members have action items daily. Team Leader refer to your workbook for your assignments. Now appoint someone to be the “Recorder” and give him a clipboard with blank Abnormality Forms on it. Appoint someone to carry the clipboard that has the “Summary of Improvements” forms on it and instruct them to immediately write down any improvement idea anyone has. Identify the person who will be the Photographer and insure that individual has the cameras，film，and disks for digital cameras. Tell the Team we will go to the machine and watch it run all the while looking for leaks，throwing of chips，excessive vibrations，heat，etc. Once we have identified all of these items that we see we will shut the machine down，Lock Out - Tag Out and commence a more thorough inspection. Finally we will begin the actual tear down of the machine and we will continue to identify，document，and photograph the abnormalities as well as record any improvement ideas. The Team will do a walk around inspection of the machine noting all abnormalities. Once we do this we will begin to disassemble the machine and this will reveal more abnormalities. We are going to document each abnormality we discover on the Abnormality Summary Form，we will also photograph each abnormality. We take pictures for several reasons: 1. To document the current condition of the machine. 2. To help in re-assembling the machine 3. Take plenty of pictures as they will prove valuable to you during this exercise. We also want to document any improvement ideas we have and we will do this on a Summary of Improvement forms. Write the improvement idea down immediately on the form so you do not forget it.
