AbstractNewsistheinformationaboutrecenteventsor happenings,especiallyasreported bynewspapers,periodicals,radioortelevision.Newsmustbetimely,accurateandinformative.Newstranslationplaysan importantroleincultureexchangeandcommunication.Inrecentyears,studieshavebeencarriedoutfromseveralperspectives,includingnewstranslationtheoriesandapplication,newstranslationcriticism,newstranslationprinciplesand soon.Wehaveachievedalotinthestudiesofnewstranslation.Newsfallsintotwobasicgroups:hardnewsandsoftnews.Hardnewsdealswiththeserioustopicsandevents.Hardnewsreferstothenewsonpolitics,economy,scienceandtechnology.C-Etranslationofhardnewsopensthewindowfortheforeignerstoknowtoday?sChina.Therefore, C-Etranslationofhardnewsstudyisdefinitelynecessaryandsignificant.TheFunctionalisttranslationtheoriesaregrowingvigorouslysincethe1970s.Theyfocusonthetextfunction, translationaction, translationpurposeandtranslationstrategies.Asa specialgenre, newstextdefinitelyhasspecificfunctions.Sodoes thehardnews.Itis meaningfulforthestudiesofnewstranslationtoanalyzethehardnewstextandtoascertainthetextfunctions.Inintroduction,thisthesisfirstintroducesthe researchbackgroundandsignificanceofC-Etranslationofhardnews.The researchquestions,methodologyanddatacollectionareproposed,andthestructureofthisthesisispresented.Astheresearchsubject,thetextofhardnewsisanalyzedinthesecondchapter.Thedefinitionofhardnewsandthelinguistic,communicativeandculturalcharacteristicsareanalyzedsystematicallywithexamples.AcontrastiveanalysisbetweenChineseandEnglishhardnewshasbeencarriedouttoidentifytheirsimilaritiesanddifferences.Thecurrentstudiesbothat homeandabroadarereviewedinChapterThree.Inthischapter,thetheoriesofFunctionalisttranslationareintroduced,andtheemphasisisputontheintroductionofthetheoryofTextTypology,thetheoryofFunction-plus-Loyalty,andtheirapplicationtothe hardnewstranslation.TheanalysesinChapterFourarecarriedoutwithinthetheoreticalframeworkoftheTextTypologyandtheFunction-plus-Loyalty.Fourtextfunctionsofthe hardnewsa
