AbstractIn numerous kinds of fish, batoid as the representative of the pectoral fin-propelled fish are characterized by maneuverability which adapted to the complex underwater environment. Nowadays, study on batoid is still less at home and abroad, especially study on turning movement whcich effects its maneuverability greatly. In order tostudying the turning movement of batoid deeply，This paper will highlight real batoid asa prototype, to carry out simulation of its turning motion.This paper establishes entity model, kinematics model and dynamic model of batoid. We uses means of numerical simulation to realize batoid turning in the water by Fluent software. We extract the parameters of hydrodynamic performance which affect batoid’s turning movement, and the parameters are analyzed and compared. We have obtained the turning trajectory which is real batoid by means of simulations. The simulation and real batoid compared to prove the correctness of the model and simulation.In this paper, the control variable method is used to research batoid turning by changing the frequency and the amplitude of pectorals of batoid. we take several different sets of both sides frequency pectorals to achive batoid’s turning. When simulation in each group have achive a turning, we extract parameters which have an effect on hydrodynamic performance when batoid turn. The parameters were compared and analyzed to get the frequency which make batoid an excellent performance. In the same way, we study how the amplitude of pectoral impacts batoid’s turning, and get the amplitude which make batoid an excellent performance.In order to have a further investigate how the frequency and amplitude affect batoid’s turning, we will carry out combining the frequency with amplitude, and take multiple sets of composite parameters to conduct our simulations.
