However, there are many healthy problems due to the deterioration of the enviroment and lifestyle changes. Facing various urban malaise, how to build up healthy city and realize the harmonious development of man and nature have become a very hot topic nowadays.Relationship between nature and humanity is a very important idea of traditional philosophy and medicine in China. Chinese medicine considers that health is closely related to nature. The effective way to solve healthy problem is to keep stability of natural ecosystem and attract physical activity to natural environment, which is called “nature-humanity coupling”. Keeping stability of natural ecosystem is the basement of health. Attracting physical activity to natural environment is a scientific and effective path to treat disease change and biomedicine`s limitation.Urban waterfront is the edge area influenced both by nature and human. There are plenty of natureal process and human activities in urban waterfront under the edge effect. It is an advantage area and a key node for coupling nature and man. Urban waterfront space is the carrier of natural process and human activity. Sturcture and fuction of waterfront space influence the coupling relationship between water and human. According to the edge effect of urban waterfront, It analyses the advantage and mechanism of nature-humanity coupling in urban waterfront space. In the respect of keeping stability of natural ecosystem, it disscusses and inducitves the spatial characteristics for improving ecology quality and dredging the connection between waterfront and urban. In the respect of attracting physical activity to natural environment, it disscusses and inducitves the spatial characteristics from environment quality, spatial function and spatial connectio
