AbstractMunicipalwastewatertreatmentplantsoftenencountertheproblemofinsufficient carbonsource,leadingtopoorremovalperformanceofnitrogenandphosphorus.Inview ofthissituation,thispaperfocusesonthethreepartsofwork:thecultivationofadequate aerobicgranularsludge;operationprocessoptimizationofaerobicgranularsludgefor simultaneousnitrogenandphosphorusremoval;aerobicgranularsludge-algaesymbiotic systemfor phosphorus and nitrogenremoval.Thefirstpartisthecultivationofaerobicgranularsludge.Intheconditionofreactor withRatioofheighttodiameterof2andlowconcentrationinfluentwithCOD concentrationof200mg/L,aerobicgranulescouldbecultivatedsuccessfully.Mature aerobicgranuleswithyellowappearance,hadperfectsettingperformance,whoseSVIwas stablebetween20ml/g~40ml/g.Theaverageparticlesizeofaerobicgranulescultivated withhighstrengthandlowstrengthinfluentwere1.02mmand0.79mm.Maintainingshort settlementtime,reducinginfluentCODconcentrationandextendingoperationcycletime, decreasingtheorganicloadrateandthegrowthrateofflocsludge,couldbeconduciveto improving granulationrate and ensuring the successful cultivation.Thesecondpartisoperationprocessoptimizationofaerobicgranularsludgefor simultaneousnitrogenandphosphorusremoval.Aerobicgranularsludgehadverygood performanceindegradingorganicmatterandoxidizingammonia.Thestrongeristhe aerationandthelongeristhecycletime,arethelowertheeffluentCOD,ammoniaand nitrite.SludgeageandanoxictimehadlittleeffectonCOD,ammonianitrogenremoval performance.Nitratewasmainlyremovedbydenitrification,suppressedbycarbonsource shortage;acertainanoxictimecouldbebeneficialtotheremovalofnitrate.TPwas removedmainlyattheaerobicstage.Thestrongeristheaerationandthelongeristhe cycle,thelowertheeffluentTP.Acertaindegreeofsludgeremovalandanoxictimewere beneficialtophosphorusremoval.ForlowconcentrationinfluentwithCODof200mg/L,aerationintensityof0.2m3/h,cycletime6h,sludgeage40d,anaerobictime0.5harethe appropriateoperationparametersforsimultaneousnitrogenandphosphorusremoval.
