AbstractWiththedevelopmentofinformationandtechnology,moreandmoreattentionispaidto quality,andtranslationqualityisnoexception.Meanwhile,itisfoundthatthesamebookhas alwaysbeentranslatedintodifferentversions,whichdrawspeople’sincreasingattentionto thetranslationquality assessmenttosome extent.TheGermanscholar,JulianeHouse’s translationqualityassessmentmodelisveryfeasibleandpractical,whichprovidesareliable meansfortranslationqualityassessment.Othermethodsoftranslationqualityassessment havenotsurpassedHouse’stranslationqualityassessmentmodelsofar.Asoneof theclassicsof children’sliterature,The Windin theWillowswritten by Grahamehasbeenpopularizedsinceitspublication.Ithasbeentranslatedintomany languages.OnlyinChina,therearemanyChineseversions.NoonehasstudiedChinese versionsof TheWindin the Willowsfromtheperspectiveof House’stranslation quality assessmentmodel.Therefore,theauthorofthisthesiscarriesoutatentativestudyoftwo Chineseversions(RenRongrong’sversion—LiuShuJianDeFengandYangJingyuan’s version—LiuLinFengSheng)fromtheperspectiveofHouse’stranslationqualityassessment model.Thefindingsofthestudy,hopefully,willhavesomesignificanceforChinese-English translationpractice,Chinese-Englishtranslationteaching,thecultivationoflearners’ translationcompetenceandthetranslationqualityassessmentoftranslatedtexts(especiallyto thetranslationofnovelforchildren).TheresearchaimsatanalyzingandassessingthetranslationqualityofthetwoChinese versions(LiuShuJianDeFengbyRenRongrongandLiuLinFengShengbyYangJingyuan) ofTheWindintheWillowswrittenbyGrahame,byapplyingHouse’stranslationquality assessmentmodel.Anotherresearchpurposeofthisthesisistofindoutwhichdimension (field,tenor,mode,andgenre)ismoreimportantwhenthetranslationqualityofnovelfor childrenisassessed.Under the guidanceoftheprocedureof House’stranslation quality assessmentmodel,theauthoranalyzesandcomparesthefirstchapteroftheoriginalTheRiver Bankandthecounterpartsofthetwotranslatedversionswordbywordand sentenceby sentence.Documentationandcasea
