Therefore, it is undoubtedly a vital method for us to grasp the new developments and changes in American society and culture by investigating the American’s love and marriage development, basic structure, and recent trends of change as well as problems facing them. This thesis is going to investigate the concept of love and marriage of American from the popular TV series Friends. As we know, peace in society begins at home, while the basic elements of home are love and marriage. Family is the basic social unit and the cell of the society. As mentioned above, it reflects the related social problems. In the endless historical process of human development, the concept, constitute, function and role of love and marriage are changing with the development of culture, economy and technology of society.
