Glass Boundaries Workshop 6-2: Optimize the Tessar Lens (again) Restore the optimized Tessar lens. Change the general constraints to keep the lenses thinner during optimization.Hint: Set the maximum thickness (MXT) to a small value, such as 1.0 or 1.5 mm, and control the minimum edge thickness (MNE) to a desired value, such as 1.5. This will optimize to minimum thickness lenses which still maintain the desired edge thickness. Re-optimize the lens. How does the error function compare to when the thicknesses were not constrained? Draw the lens. Do the lenses look better now? Evaluate the performance of the lens with ray aberration curves (toolbar Quick Ray Aberration Plot) and spot diagrams (toolbar Quick Spot Diagram). Save the final lens for further work.
