Knowledge aims: Master new words and expressions of this module Get to know something about body language 2. Ability aims: Get the Ss to grasp the basic reading ability: skimming and scanning Get the Ss to greet each other freely using the given greetings in the text 3. Moral aims: Arouse the Ss’ interest in the cultures in different parts of the world Make the Ss conscious of body language in different cultures Analyzing the material: There is a new reading lesson about body language, it includes five paragraphs, and the degree of difficulty is medium level. Analyzing the students: Their average English grades are 70, so the students are poor in English learning. The most of students know a little body language in China, and they pay less attention to body language in foreign countries. Teaching Methods: Task-based method, communicative method Teaching procedures: Step1 Lead-in (5 minutes) Ask the students to look at the six pictures on the screen and say something about them. By doing so, it can arouse their interest and they will know what we’ll deal with in this period. Step2 Vocabulary (5 minutes) Let the students read the new word and expressions together in the word list, twice one word. The aim is to make students master the new vocabulary and have no difficulty in reading the text. Finish the exercises on the screen. The aim is to strengthen the memory the new vocabulary. Step3 Reading (23 minutes) Skimming (fast reading) (8 minutes) Give the students sometime to read the passage quickly and then finish the two tasks on the screen: Choose the best title Match the main idea of each paragraph The purpose is to make students master the reading skills, especially skimming .
