Therefore is the name of it called Babel(巴比塔/通天塔) the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. “洪荒造塔语言殊，从此人间要象胥” A Brief History of Translation In Western Countries There are five climaxes of development of translation in western countries: 1.In the mid of the 3rd century BC (公元前3世纪中叶). 2.From the 4th century to the 6th century(公元4世纪至6世纪之间). 3.From the 11th century to the 12th century(公元11至12世纪之间) 4.During the Renaissance from the 14th century to the 16th century (14至16世纪的欧洲文艺复兴运动). 5. From the end of the Second World War till now (第二次世界大战结束以来的翻译活动). I
