The Trojan War Saga: The Odyssey The Return and Reunion At night, after all the suitors leave, Odysseus and his son remove all the weapons stored there. Odysseus then meets Penelope. Odysseus introduces himself as Aethon, son of Deucalion（丢卡利翁） and fabricates（伪造） a story of meeting her husband. Penelope also confides to the beggar about her dream of the flock of twenty geese being preyed on by an eagle（鹰）. The beggar interprets（说明，口译） the dream as Odysseus (the eagle) taking revenge（实施报复） on the suitors, which means her husband’s return is imminent. As Eurycleia washes him, she notices an old hunting wound on this leg and realizes that he is Odysseus himself. She is about to tell the queen when Odysseus stops her with a threat to kill her. The faithful Eurycleia consents. While the suitors are unsuccessfully trying to string the bow, Odysseus reveals himself to two faithful servants, Eumaeus（欧麦俄斯） the swineherd（养猪的人） and Philoetius（菲洛提奥斯） the cattleman. When all the suitors have failed the test to string the bow, Odysseus offers to try. The suitors protest, but Penelope insists that all should be allowed and try their hands on the bow, although she assures the group that even if he strings it she will not marry him.
