Based on his “practical” philosophical view, Yuan Yuan profoundly and comprehensively recognized the educational value of physical edu- cation for physical and mental development of an individual and the social value of physical education for state booming and nation prosperity. Yuan Yuan had distinctive accomplishments in the history of development of ancient Chinese scholastic physical education, and established a traditional scholastic physical education curriculum and teaching system basing its main contents on courtesy, music, archery and carriage driving, which had established an ideological foundation for the development of modern Chinese scholastic physical education.
